Le Cloitre Gites, Huelgoat
A warm welcome awaits you at our rural gite complex in Le Cloitre, just a few minutes drive from the pretty town of Huelgoat. It is the ideal place for those wishing to explore Huelgoats famous Forest of Legends with its amazing rock formations, rivers and waterfalls. It is a truly magical and enchanted place, and is only approximately 50 minutes from the port of Roscoff.
Huelgoat is situated in the heart of the beautiful Parc Armorique. It is a haven for walkers, cyclists, horse riders, nature lovers and those just in pursuit of peace and tranquility
The town of Huelgoat has a lake, numerous restaurants, a fantastic arboretum, art gallery, supermarkets, pharmacy, launderette, petrol stations, post office, banks and numerous bars. A traditional market is held in the square on Thursday mornings. Huelgoat town hosts a national mountain biking festival in September, with 6000 cyclists.
We are ideally situated for visiting towns, such as Quimper, Morlaix, Concarneau and the beautiful Crozon Peninsula with its stunning scenery and beaches. The city of Brest, where you can find the famous Oceanopolis Aquarium, is approx 1 hour away.
Approx 40 minutes away, overlooking the Bay of Morlaix, the Cairn de Barnenez is the largest megalithic mausoleum in Europe and also one of the world’s oldest – it predates Egypt’s pyramids. At 246ft (75m) long and 82ft (25m) at its widest, the stone burial chamber is a must-visit for fans of ancient history and mystery.
In July France's largest music festival, the Vieilles Charrues is held 20km away, in Carhaix. This year it will be held on the 13th - 17th July with Robbie Williams, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Blur amongst the names announced so far.
We welcome motorcycling and cycling groups, we are ideally situated for touring the whole of Brittany.
The gites are situated in a small, peaceful hamlet and we operate a quiet time of 22h30. Any events or parties are strictly prohibited to guarantee peace and quiet relaxation for our guests.
